#987 Aether
Aether, nestled on a tranquil slope in the picturesque village of Kardamyli, Greece, is a refined retreat envisioned by Head Architect Eleanna Kokkaliari and Principal Engineer Dimitris Pastras of DETALE.
Designed as a modern Shangri-La for its owners and their extended family, the residence harmoniously merges locally quarried stone with clean contemporary lines, unfolding across the hillside in carefully articulated fragments rather than a single mass. This fragmented composition not only allows the home to settle naturally into the terrain but also creates a rich variety of viewpoints and spatial experiences throughout the property.
Discreetly “sunk” into the landscape, the house remains virtually invisible from afar, preserving the natural character of its surroundings.
An infinity pool stretches toward the horizon, framing an uninterrupted dialogue with the sea, while pale limestone subtly unifies the outdoor spaces. Thoughtful architectural gestures—such as the entrance wall’s crafted loopholes—echo the region’s storied defensive heritage. Inside, an open kitchen, dining, and living area is immersed in natural light from a generous front window and a dramatic skylight that channels daylight deep into the interior, even reaching the basement.
